Gaming Accounts

In BC, the provincial government will donate money to service clubs such as Rotary and then have restrictions on these funds to ensure they are used for specific types of things that the provincial government endorses. Gaming grants cannot be used to buy ShelterBoxes for Haiti for example and must instead be used for local purposes. From an accounting point of view, this causes a mess as it must be tracked separately.

Charitable donations with tax receipts also must be tracked carefully and detailed records kept with a separate bank account. There may (will) be several types of accounts and requirements in different provinces, states and countries.
